Decadent Drinking
A prof at Cooper Union is giving a lecture on absinthe. Has anyone out there ever tried it? Years ago in Philly, my friend Danni and her husband Jordan brought some back from the UK. They had a party and we all had some. To be honest, it really didn't do anything for me. So much for living like Oscar Wilde. It was a total letdown.

ha..so funny you bring this up. my sister is 9 and a half years older than me, but missed out on her teen years and is determined to make that up 10fold while in her 40s. every year, her and her friends (who I dubbed "the midlife crisis posse") go up to the poconos for a weekend of debauchery. no husbands allowed, which...if you have to say no husbands allowed, you know it's already going to be a trainwreck.
so anyway, usually it's just pot and drinking and nude hot tubbing, (though my sister has been on some HARD drugs in her life and this is a cakewalk for her), but this year they wrangled a bottle of absinthe from their friend, The Interweb. they're all atitter. it's all they can talk about.
they go this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out.
okay, okay, not like you're dying to know or anything, but my sister got back from her trip. and they forgot the absinthe. so now they're making a special absinthe party sometime in december. god, I hope I never find myself in that situation, having to have an absinthe party because I forgot to take it up to the poconos. I guess it was too much to remember to bring stuff for s'mores, your clinique makeup, your shirts from forever 21, your age-defying lotion, and your bong from when you were 17 AND the absinthe.
